Professional poker player Liv Boeree has called for more ladies to enter the word of poker, claiming it can be difficult at first, but if they win, women will soon be taken seriously at the poker table.
She claimed that at first a lot of male payers simply disregarded her, but they did so at their peril, the Sun reports.
"I can understand why women would find it intimidating. But I'd tell anyone who was starting out to build their confidence by playing at a local club," she told the UK newspaper.
Indeed, Ms Boeree now has all the confidence she needs to go far in the sport, finishing last year's money rankings in 15th place overall.
Furthermore, since turning professional in 2007, the poker siren has built up career earnings in excess of $2 million.
She added that it can be a blessing and a curse to have a pretty face at the poker table, as some men will regard her as easy prey, until, that is, they go into a hand against her.
