Scott Seiver has picked up over $1.6 million in prize money after winning the IX World Poker Tour (WPT) Championship in Las Vegas.
The victory at the $25,000 buy-in event at the Bellagio gave him his first WPT title and tournament earnings totaling $1,618,344, according to Poker Listings.
Seiver saw off competition from Farzad Bonyadi in heads-up play, with his competitor walking away with just over $1 million for finishing in second place.
Around 220 poker players entered the tournament and third place was awarded to Galen Hall, who picked up $589,355 for his efforts.
Ivan Freitez also recorded a substantial win recently with a victory at the PokerStars European Poker Tour Grand Final main event.
The Venezuelan secured $1.5 million and became the first South American winner of the European Poker Tour, Card Player reports.
He beat Torsten Brinkmann into second place, with German taking home the runner-up prize of €900,000 ($1.26 million).
