In light of the recent state budget, it seems almost certain that Pennsylvania is preparing to allow gaming establishments in the state to install poker tables.
The budget includes $200 million in projected revenue from table games such as poker, blackjack and craps, which indicates that the passing of the bill to enable casinos to offer these is almost a formality.
A spokesperson for Pennsylvania's House Majority Leader Todd Eachus confirmed this, commenting: "It's not a matter of 'if'
It's a matter of 'how'."
Governor Ed Rendell signed the $27.8 billion state budget after a 101-day wait. Officials claimed that while the bill authorizing poker in slots parlors and resorts has been delayed, the completion of the budget will not be adversely affected.
Among the casinos in Pennsylvania which might be set to benefit from the change in legislation are Mount Airy, Penn National, The Meadows, Mohegan Sun and Harrah's Chester.
