Trump Entertainment Resorts sued for $17m

New York-based firm Coastal Marina is suing Trump Entertainment Resorts for $17 million over the Trump Marina Hotel Casino.

The firm once intended to purchase the property, but in the latest twist in the tale of Donald Trump's casino empire it is now suing the company, claiming that $50 million in repairs will be needed, reports the Associated Press.

It alleges that the property in Atlantic City was allowed to fall into disrepair and that customers have been diverted to other venues owned by Trump Entertainment Resorts.

Coastal Marina pulled out of the deal but is seeking to recover the $17 million it gave as deposits towards the purchase.

The company was going to partner with singer Jimmy Buffett to rebrand the venue as Margaritaville, but now asserts that "unbeknownst to the Coastal parties, the defendants intended to strip the casino of its valuable customers and key personnel [and] destroy its image with its potential and current patrons".

Trump Entertainment Resorts currently operates three casinos in the New Jersey gaming hub, including the Trump Taj Mahal and Trump Plaza.
