The biggest live tournament money winner in the history of poker, Jamie Gold, has promoted a charity poker event in his blog.
Gold, the 2006 World Series of Poker main event champion, put up an article on Bluff Magazine's website about the Fallen Heroes Memorial Classic, which takes place at the Bicycle Casino in California on February 22nd.
"What better way to start off the New Year than to donate money to a great cause and have an amazing time in the process?" the post stated.
Big screen televisions, a seven-day Mexican Riviera cruise and a World Poker Tour prize package are all up for grabs in the competition, which will benefit the Fallen Heroes Fund for the families of deceased firefighters and policemen.
Gold carries out a lot of work on behalf of charities and claimed in September that it was "personally gratifying" for him to contribute to the Jerry Lee Lewis Telethon during that month.
