Approximately 25,000 people were in attendance for the opening of the new Red Hawk Casino in Placerville, California, it has been revealed.
According to a press release issued by the resort, a multitude of invited guests, tribal officials and the general public turned up to see the event, which featured a performance by Jim Belushi and the Sacred Hearts band.
"Opening day was truly spectacular," commented Peter Fordham, Red Hawk Casino's general manager. "We couldn't be more pleased with the outcome."
A group of tribal members simultaneously cut a 30 ft long ribbon to signal the official opening of the venue.
Those looking to travel to Red Hawk over Christmas will find 2,000 slot machines and 75 table games on display, along with four bars and six restaurants.
The casino will also host a series of live concerts, featuring the likes of Basix, Fast Lane, Patton Leatha and Steel Breeze.
