Dream Team Poker Tournament "a phenomenal success"

Jamie Gold has praised the first ever Dream Team Poker Tournament (DTPT), which took place at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas in October.

The 2006 World Series of Poker (WSOP) main event winner wrote in his Bluff Magazine blog that he had a great time at the event and dubbed the whole thing "a phenomenal success".

DTPT featured a standard tournament format, but players were grouped into teams of three, with points scored for how deep each competitor managed to get.

The competition was won by Team Bluff, which featured the magazine's publisher Eric Morris, editor Matt Purvis and rising star of the poker circuit Justin Bonomo, whom Gold dubbed "super-talented".

Gold played alongside The Simpsons co-creator Sam Simon and poker journalist Adam Slutsky, both of whom went to the rail on day one, while Gold crashed out on day two holding pocket kings.

It has been more than a year since Gold achieved notable success in a poker tournament. His last major cash finish came at the 2007 WSOP Europe main event in which he was 35th.
