Approximately $20,000 was raised by NFL legend Paul Hornung and a number of other football luminaries at a recent blackjack fundraiser in Indiana.
WBAY reports that the former Green Bay Packer, who is a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, was in New Buffalo with his fellow 'Gridiron Greats' to generate money for fellow NFL players who are struggling to make ends meet.
Hornung told the news provider that players who retire in the current environment can receive almost ten times the amount he gets every month - $900.
"So what, what the hell? They're just saying to us: 'You're not important,'" he remarked.
Hornung is looking to follow up the blackjack event with a poker tournament, the latest Card Player article from Phil Hellmuth has suggested.
The Poker Brat told his readers that Hornung has asked him if he would be the emcee for the competition, following on from his announcing duties at Tony and Eva Parker's Celebrity Casino Night earlier this month.
