Horeshoe Casino entertainment venue opens

Horseshoe Casino in Chicago had its grand opening over the weekend, starting on August 8th.

The $500 million entertainment centre played host to a number of celebrities and featured performances from stars such as Bette Midler and Josh Kelley.

Midler was the first act to play at the 3,500-seat entertainment facility called The Venue, while Kelley played on the Skyline Stage.

The Big Lebowski's Tara Reid and Real Housewives of NYC's Bethenney Frankel turned up to watch the Midler and Kelly christen the stages.

Horseshoe Casino has more than 108,000 sq ft of gambling space and is only 20 minutes from Chicago.

Its poker room has 34 tables and a private area called Benny's Back Room, which is named after the founder of the original Las Vegas franchise.

As well as a successful acting career, staring in films such as Scenes from a Mall and For the Boys, Midler has won an Emmy for her performance on The Tonight Show and four Grammies, including Best New Artist in 1973.
