The prize money in Mississippi has reached a record level and is still growing, creating a strong buzz at the Isle of Capri Casino, Biloxi, reports the Sun Herald.

It has been claimed that the massive jackpot has attracted a large number of "seasoned players" who are "tuned into it", according to Beverly Martin, the Mississippi Casino Operators Association executive director.

Rich Westfall, the community development director at Isle of Capri, commented: "The dollar Wheel of Fortune progressive has always been one of our most popular progressive games."

The payout occurs completely at random, according to the makers of the machine, so the winner takes home the cash entirely due to luck.

Whoever does claim this jackpot will take home significantly more than the previous winner, who struck gold at the Beau Rivage casino with a payout of $921,313 in 2006.
