It is possible that the two people who will contest the 2008 US presidential election will both be fans of gambling.
Jon Friedman revealed today for MarketWatch that Republican nominee John McCain enjoys a game of craps and enchanted journalists at a casino in Puerto Rico a few years ago by performing well at the tables.
"[Mr] McCain was having a good night and punctuated his successful throws by throwing his fist in the air triumphantly," Mr Friedman wrote.
Barack Obama, the current favorite to win the Democratic candidacy, has also been known to gamble in the past and is said to be a fan of poker.
The news may be welcomed by the Global Poker Strategic Thinking Society, which had suggested that a game of poker would be a much better way of helping voters to decide who to go for than the more traditional television debates.
With both men fond of a wager, such a contest is perhaps closer than ever to fruition.
