Nancy Todd Tyner won the most prestigious event of her career on Friday, by taking down the World Poker Tour (WPT) Ladies Championship at the Bellagio in Las Vegas.
Tyner managed to overhaul the pre-final table lead of favourite Vanessa Selbst, eventually defeating her New Jersey rival in heads-up.
Cindy Keslake finished third, followed by Janice Kim, Donna Varlotto and Van Nguyen.
One famous player watching the competition was Roy Winston, who said in his Card Player blog he was supporting Kim, although expected Selbst to emerge the winner.
"I have played with Vanessa at various tournaments throughout the past couple of years and find her to be an excellent player - and would have bet on her - but it wasn't her night," he commented.
Tyner was given $68,640 for coming first, while Selbst received $40,815.
The Las Vegas resident's previous highest cash was $5,270 for coming eighth at a 2007 Mirage Poker Showdown event.
