Binger moves up nine in POY rankings

Michael Binger is now the second highest ranked person in Card Player's player of the year (POY) race.

The professional leapt up from 11th on Wednesday to put himself ahead of Michael McDonald following his victory at the 2008 Five-Star World Poker Classic's event 13.

Erik Seidel still heads the list on 3,700 points, but Binger is not too far behind with 3,040.

The Las Vegas professional's time in the top two may be short-lived, however, as Glen Chorny's win yesterday at the European Poker Tour Grand Final will surely send him shooting towards the top of the table once the scores from that event have been correlated.

Binger has had a very successful year in terms of the number of cash finishes he has managed, although his lack of a major win is evident by his $619,374 earnings, which is roughly half a million less than any of the other players in the top seven.
