Baccarat continues to be Macau's most popular casino game, according to new figures released today.
A study by Macau's Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau revealed that James Bond's favourite gambling diversion generated 69.14 per cent of China's casino industry revenue during the first quarter of this year, reports macauhub.
This figure equates to 20.801 billion patacas ($2.59 billion). Should the game continue to generate cash at the same rate, it will have made more money than the entire Macau gaming sector in 2003 in just two months time.
Baccarat enjoys nowhere near the same degree of popularity in the west as it does in the world's casino capital.
According to recent research by TripAdvisor, the game did not rank in the top three of people's favourite gambling pastimes, finishing behind slot machines, blackjack and roulette after 1,600 people were questioned.
Macau only has 13,522 slot machines, significantly less than Las Vegas.
