Poker now 20th in Lycos list

Poker was the 20th most typed search term in Lycos last week - an improvement of 11 places on the week before.

The game, which dropped from the top 50 altogether last month, has been moving up gradually since re-entry perhaps thanks to a number of huge poker tournaments happening during April.

Outside of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) main event, the ongoing European Poker Tour Grand Final and the World Poker Tour Championship are perhaps the two biggest competitions in the sport, while the World Poker Open IV and the WSOP Circuit finale are also on the horizon.

These have not been enough to put poker close to its old heights, however, with the game lagging behind the top three occupants of Angelina Jolie, YouTube and Britney Spears.

Before falling out of the top 50, poker had been regularly in the number one spot for almost a decade.
