US citizens are more likely to go on a gaming vacation than the rest of the world, it has been revealed.
Research from TripAdvisor, a travel company, found 26 per cent of Americans have gone away specifically to gamble, as opposed to 19 per cent of other nations.
It was also found that 80 per cent of people from the US have gambled while on vacation and 44 per cent wish to take holidays specifically for this purpose in the next year.
This compared to figures of 72 per cent and 36 per cent respectively for the rest of the world.
TripAdvisor surveyed 1,600 people from around the globe and discovered that the most popular form of gambling involved slot machines.
Blackjack and roulette rounded out the top three, where there was no sign of baccarat - the game of choice for the majority of gamblers in the world's richest casino destination Macau.
