Two-time runner-up Chris Ferguson is the 22-1 favourite for this year's National Heads-Up Poker Championship, according to the Las Vegas Sun.
Columnist Jeff Haney, the newspaper's voice on poker, has made the computer science PhD from UCLA the top dog for the 2008 tourney, with some big names in the chasing pack.
Last year's winner, Paul Wasicka is rated by the paper at 25-1, with his $6 million from the 2006 World Series of Poker (WSOP) burning a hole in his back pocket. On the same odds is arguably one of the most recognisable faces in the poker world - Phil Hellmuth.
Hellmuth has had a sparkling poker career, punctuated by no less than 11 WSOP bracelets in his own personal collection.
Andy Bloch, Allen Cunningham and Barry Greenstein can also be found in the 25-1 to 23-1 area, but if you're looking for something of better value, Haney's comments could lead you elsewhere.
Scott Clements is rated 40-1 and has won "two World Poker Tour titles and two World Series bracelets, all since 2006".
According to PokerPages.com, the 26-year-old Clements began playing poker in 2004.
