The main event of the LA Poker Classic will kick-off on Saturday February 23rd.
Perhaps card playing's biggest non-World Series of Poker tournament, the $10,000 buy-in no-limit hold'em contest is traditionally one of the richest legs on the World Poker Tour (WPT).
Almost 800 people took part last year and the $2,429,970 winner's pot broke the record for a regular WPT event.
That prize has since been surpassed by the Doyle Brunson Five Diamond World Poker Classic, but few would be surprised to see the LA tournament reclaim its crown.
Men Nguyen appears to be the form player going into the main event, having already won three preliminary LA titles and made the final tables at several others.
He will be looking to win his first WPT competition having previously finished in the money on eight occasions.
Last year's main event was won by Eric Hershler.
