The latest planned addition to the Boardwalk area of Atlantic City has been approved by the planning board, according to reports.
Revel Entertainment has been given the go-ahead for its ocean-themed casino, Newsday reports, with the $2 billion casino to be sited next to the Showboat Casino Hotel. The new resort will be called Revel.
Due to open in the second part of 2010, Revel will initially comprise a single tower, with around 1,900 rooms, followed by a second tower to double the occupancy levels.
According to the newspaper, Atlantic City's newest casino could also be the first to have its own wedding chapel.
At the time of preliminary site plan approval in September last year, Revel Entertainment announced that a 5,500-seat theatre was also part of the make up of the Revel, the site of which also features 1,000 ft of beach frontage.
According to the Atlantic City website, there are currently 11 casino resorts in the area.
