Caribbean Poker players winning big in Macau

Players of Caribbean Poker, a game similar to five-card stud which is played against a dealer as opposed to other players, have been making a fortune so far this month at the Galaxy Starworld casino in Macau.

The Hong Kong-owned enterprise has paid out HK$4.88 million ($625,281) to one player this month and has also given more than HK$400,000 to several others, the Macau Daily Times reported.

Local players all managed to win the big prizes, with the lucky gamblers hailing from Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau and mainland China.

Starworld is the tallest hotel in Macau and is the flagship casino of the Galaxy Entertainment Group, which owns four other spots in the world's largest gaming city.

One of the casino's most popular games, as with most places in Macau, is baccarat and Starworld announced that it is to introduce a new version exclusive to the resort.
