WPT teams up with Stats LLC

The World Poker Tour (WPT), poker's equivalent to the PGA circuit, has teamed up with one of the world's leading statistics companies in order to develop the facts and figures side of the sport.

In the hopes of lending card playing more validity, the WPT will employ Stats LLC to provide it with the same level of analysis that it does to the NBA and NFL, according to USA Today.

One example of the new statistics the tour is hoping to come up with is the aggression index, which will use a mathematical formula to determine how aggressive a person is playing.

Steve Lipscomb, spokesman for the WPT said: "In poker, we all think we're better than we are.

"We're going to develop statistics that will allow you to compare one win against another. The first stats you're going to get are rather basic, telling you what your ranking is based on the strength of field."

One of the reasons for this, Mr Lipscomb added, is because the current method of measuring players using World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelets is too basic.
