Universities in the USA could be on verge of seeing a poker-orientated open online curriculum.
An article in the Guardian refers to the Global Poker Strategic Thinking Society (GPSTS) which aims to implement the new curriculum at universities across the country.
The article also refers to a report by Inside Higher Ed which say the scheme is catching on at several prominent institutions including Yale, Brown, Stanford and UCLA.
Harvard law professor Charles Nesson, who heads up the GPSTS, called poker a "powerful teaching tool at all levels of academia and in secondary education".
Mr Nesson added that poker is useful for "strategic thinking, geopolitical analysis, risk assessment and money management, a metaphor for skills of life, business, politics and international relations".
The GPSTS will hold a conference entitled The Educational Value of Poker on November 10th at Harvard Law School.
