The $800 million MGM Grand Detroit casino resort, which is due to open on October 2nd, has said it is going after wealthy clientele.
Containing a 400-room hotel and 100,000 square feet of gaming space, the 17-story building Art Deco-inspired building has been designed to attract business travelers and conference-goers with plenty of money to spend.
Several VIP rooms have been built, including marble-floored penthouse suites, with 50-inch plasma TVs, costing $3,000 a night.
"We're going after the high-end customer who can afford the room," April Jacobs, director of marketing for MGM Grand Detroit, told DetNews.com.
"We're offering a luxury hotel product that really hasn't been seen in this area before."
Included at the resort are three restaurants managed by celebrity chefs, a piano bar, a club and 30, 000 sq ft of meeting rooms.
The MGM Grand Detroit will also boast a private valet and entrance for its hotel guests.
