MotorCity opens its doors to Detroit

The upmarket high-rollers area of Detroit's 100,000 sq ft MotorCity Casino has now officially opened.

With its unique decor, special lighting, superb slots area and cutting-edge entertainment system, gamblers after a luxurious gaming experience are sure to have a ball.

In the Radio Bar, for example, a number of flat-screen televisions throb radiate with the images from music videos, while enormous columns near the bar pulse illuminate in time with the music.

And while the public have access to high-stake table games and slots, entry to the exclusive Signature Club is by invitation only.

Members of this VIP club are urged to gain access through the Brooklyn entrance, where an elevator will ascend to the second floor. Once in there, members should follow the signs to the new Signature Club or high limits areas.

Marian Ilitch, who owns the casino, told Free Press columnist Tom Walsh that she wants to the gambling palace to be "a destination spot".

"I want people talking about us, saying, 'Whoa, you've got to see MotorCity'."
