Casino-goers seeking all-round package

Gamblers at land-based casinos are increasingly seeking a comprehensive entertainment package as well as top class gambling facilities, new research has shown.

The rise of popular online venues such as InterCasino.com is likely to be one of the reasons why gamers are now more accustomed to high quality gambling in their own homes, and go out as much for a meal and a show as they do for the chance to bet money.

The findings released by the American Gaming Association show that such demands, including food, shopping and theatrical entertainment, are now highly popular, with twice as many Americans now citing such interests as more fun than the actual gambling itself.

“The way people are relating to gambling is so different than it was a quarter-century ago," commented Peter Hart, head of the research company that helped carry out the survey, speaking to the Press of Atlantic City.

Total gambling revenue at US commercial casinos reached $32.4 billion in 2006, figures released earlier this week revealed.
