An investigation into how last year's Main Event at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) ended with 2.41 million worth of extra chips on the table has been concluded, with officials unable to establish what happened.
In the absence of any concrete evidence WSOP operator Harrah's has put the issue down to simple human error.
The organiser will not be following up on the issue with any prosecutions, it has been confirmed.
"There were extra chips that had been introduced into the tournament, inadvertently apparently. We looked at several angles to determine whether or not there was any criminal involvement, and we could not substantiate that there was any," commented the Jerry Markling of the Nevada Gaming Commission, which also looked into the issue, according to the Associated Press.
"We made some recommendations to Harrah's concerning ways to avoid that occurring in the future, and we closed the investigation," Mr Markling added.
The poker-craze extended to Hollywood this week as the WSOP featured in new Hollywood film Lucky You, which centres on a poker player trying to make it to the top.
