The Sands Casino Hotel in Atlantic City has revealed that it is to sell items from within the resort prior to its demolition.
Items made famous by their association with Frank Sinatra will be among those to go in the sale, which is being conducted ahead of the building of a new billion dollar venue.
The hotel's Plaza Club, long known as Sinatra's personal hangout when he stayed at the Sands, will sell off chandeliers, chairs and the bar itself. The overall value of all the items on sale is thought to be around $1.5 million.
"When you pull these places apart, people are fascinated. Whenever things are hidden away behind walls or in private areas, it just increases the speculation," said executive vice president of new owners Pinnacle Atlantic City Kim Townsend, according to the Associated Press.
"We took a whole floor and I had to cut doors between each room so [Sinatra] could walk from one end of the floor to another where his people were, without having to go into the hallway," added maintenance worker Rocky Merrill.
The Sands venue featured a number of five star gourmet restaurants as well as over 500 hotel rooms.
