Developer Fontainebleau resorts has announced that it is planning to build a $2.8 billion casino on the Las Vegas Strip as part of the firm's ambitious expansion plans.
With 3,889 rooms spread over almost 25 acres, the new casino resort has been kept under wraps until now despite work having begun in February, the company revealed.
Meanwhile Publishing and Broadcasting Limited (PBL) have invested $250 million in the project, the Associated Press has reported.
The complex will also hold nightclubs and a spa as well as the 100,000 square foot casino.
It'll be a contemporary design and it will blend what's current and what will endure in contemporary art, striking design, world-calibre architecture, new technology and hip music," said Glenn Schaeffer, chief executive of Fontainebleau.
The resort is scheduled to open towards the end of 2009.
The Fontainebleau name is best known in connection with its resort on Miami Beach.
