Everyone was a winner during 2006 in Atlantic City, with profits up for operators and more freebies available to gamblers, new statistics have shown.
Gross operating profits rose to $1.4 billion from $1.3 billion in 2005, with promotional expenses costing casinos $1.67 billion, an increase of seven per cent.
Meanwhile three quarters of the region's 12 casinos reported occupancy rates of over 90 per cent.
"It's another indication of how good a market Atlantic City is these days," said Roger Gros, editor of Global Gaming Business., according to Canadian Business Online.
The Borgata was Atlantic City's most successful casino, though its gross operating profits of $250 million were nonetheless down on 2005 figures.
However, three casinos &ndash Trump Plaza, Resorts Atlantic City and the Sands Hotel Casino all lost money during 2006. The latter venue was shut down in November.
